Top 7 Disney Desserts at the Magic Kingdom

It's no secret that, in my book, the desserts are always among the highlights of a Disney World trip!  The Magic Kingdom in particular has an impressive selection of treats, and strolling by Cinderella Castle is always nicer when I have something to snack on...

Today we're looking beyond the cupcakes (well...mostly!) to take in the top seven must-eat sweets at the Magic Kingdom.  Are you ready?

1. PINEAPPLE DOLE WHIP

The Aloha Isle window in Adventureland plays host to a truly legendary pineapple soft serve with a devoted following.  It is very sweet, but on a busy MK day when you're craving something tropical and cold, I'd say the dole whip is pure ambrosia!  There's also a dole whip float and other flavors to try (my favorite is the vanilla and pineapple!).  This mountainous swirl of sunny ice cream is a must-try Disney treat and a Magic Kingdom classic.

2. OOEY GOOEY CAKE

A leisurely table service lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern can be the perfect way to wind down after a busy Magic Kingdom morning – and it’s where you’ll find one of the park’s most amazing desserts!  The ooey good toffee cake cake is served warm and packed with toffee and chocolate chips, topped off with an enormous scoop of vanilla ice cream, caramel, and chocolate sauce.  Delish!

3. GREY STUFF CUPCAKE

Lumiere wasn’t kidding: the grey stuff is seriously delicious!  It’s the icing on top (and the filling inside!) of the Master’s Cupcake at Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland and is available during both lunch and dinner.  Sampling this chocolaty treat inside the regal rooms of the Beast’s castle is simply magnifique!

4. LE FOU’S BREW

Gaston may call five dozen eggs a good snack, but luckily his tavern in New Fantasyland offers some more appetizing options!  LeFou’sbrew is an icy apple drink topped with frothy passion-fruit marshmallow foam.  It’s creamy and fruity and refreshing and perfect for a hot Florida afternoon!

5. WAFFLE SANDWICH

Take a hot, freshly-made Belgian waffle, load it up with a lavish layer of Nutella and mounds of fresh fruit, and you’ve got the incredible dessert sandwich available at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments near the Liberty Square bridge.  Come hungry - this is a meal in itself!

6. CHESHIRE CAFÉ CAKE CUP

A dessert so decadent it’s quite, quite mad!  Cheshire Café, located next to the Mad Tea Party attraction, is home to the cake cup – a yummy dish of layered cake and icing.  The flavors and decorations are inspired by Alice in Wonderland characters.  (Maybe don’t have it right before you go spinning in a tea cup, though…)

7. WISHES DESSERT PARTY

This must-do isn’t just one dessert – it’s dozens!  The Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party takes place before the fireworks and features a buffet made up entirely of sweets: chocolate-covered strawberries, cookies, cannoli, brownies, along with unique delicacies like mango shooters and pistachio crème brûlée!  You’ll look up from your delicious cheesecake cup to see Tinkerbell flying overhead and the fireworks going off behind the castle.  Completely magical!

What is your top treat at the Magic Kingdom?

  1. Yum! You forgot my favorite in the Magic Kingdom though - the Citrus Swirl! I'll take that over a Dole Whip any day :)

  2. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. Le Fou's Brew is clearly a drink. And the Nutella Waffle Sandwich is clearly a breakfast item. You may always choose to have a dessert WITH these two items (because, yes, dessert with breakfast is mandatory on vacation). ;-)
