Today's post takes us to the Italy pavilion at Epcot.  We're headed for "Gelati" - the gelato stand - to try a pretty epic-looking ice cream cup, the "Coppa Del Nonno."

currently watching...The Story of Irene and Vernon Castle with Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire...Ginger Rogers's wardrobe,'s perfection...

currently reading...a whole bunch of lovely things - click over to my quote collection post for a taste!

currently (blog) reading...this article from the Guardian on Princess Anne's Ascot style.  So cool that she's recycled her ensemble over so many years - she is "secure in her story."

...can't help but chuckle over these photos of zookeepers re-enacting the raptor-taming scene from Jurassic World with their own animals. the sangfroid of this little Danish princess on Suri's Burn Book.

currently dreaming of a Disney Cruise because...did you know the Disney Magic is getting a Tangled stage show?  And the costumes - at least from the fabrics - look gorgeous!

currently window shopping...should we call it window shopping when it's online?  ModCloth has such cute things...I want to wear this dress to the Polynesian...

Makeup Tutorial for a Day in the Disney Parks

There's a new video up on my YouTube channel today!  I have a makeup look/tutorial for a day at Walt Disney World...

I love getting ready for a Disney day at the Polynesian...

...I can lay all my makeup supplies out on a tiki tray! :)

Some makeup suggestions/items for when you're at Disney:

-SUNSCREEN - don't forget to put this on before you start your makeup!  You can often find foundation/BB cream that has sunscreen in it - the Revlon "Photo Ready" BB Cream that I use has 30 SPF.
-powder to set your your foundation/concealer so it doesn't instantly melt off in the Florida sun.
-sparkly eye shadow so you can match the princesses.
-lipstick that matches your outfit.

To catch the tutorial click here or click play above.  Do you have a favorite makeup look for the parks?  Be sure to share in the comments!

Quote Collection 06.20.15

Some people collect stamps.  Some people collect coins.  Some people collect pins.

I collect quotes.

I read a lot and read a lot of different things, and while I don't always finish every single book I pick up, it's amazing how often a lovely guiding providence seems to put just the right page and just the right phrase in front of you.

You never know when a good quote will come in handy.  Some of them just make you smile for an instant, others sink in and pop back up when you need them most.

So I have formed a new blogging resolution: to share some of these quotes with you!  There's a fair smattering of book reviews in the archives of A Pinch of Pixie Dust, and while I'm always meaning to do more, I often run out of time - but a quote can give you a nice bite-sized taste of a book.  So we're going to give this a try.  Because words can definitely be pixie dust too. :)  Without further adieu...

"It's June and anything can happen!  Of course, it usually doesn't...but's June's job to remind me that there are still surprises in the air, glittering like dragonflies' wings."

When Wanderers Cease to Roam by Vivian Swift

(seriously go get this book, it's charming)

" was the moment between six and seven when every flower--roses, carnations, irises, lilac--glows; white, violet, red, deep orange; every flower seems to burn by itself, softly, purely in the misty beds . . ."

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf

(Mrs. Dalloway takes place in June!  In another passage in this book, Virginia Woolf makes up the word 'irreticences,' which I just plain love)

"He is mystical when he ought to be intelligible - and intelligible where he ought to be obscure.  There are some things which have no business being put into books for all the world to read."

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke

(remember this one?  Had to to include this quote as the new Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell tv series is on BBC America - the first episode is also on youtube and it's awesome - and also that delicate balance between mystical and intelligible can be a very difficult one to achieve... ;) )

"I have changed my mind, and changed the trimmings of my cap this morning; they are now such as you suggested. I felt as if I should not prosper if I strayed from your directions..."

Jane Austen's Letters ed. Deirdre Le Faye

(I recently ordered the complete volume of Jane Austen's letters, and they're full of lines just as charming as in her novels!  I love how the letters are like a conversation with her sister, Cassandra - I only wish we had Cassandra's replies back!)

When there's a bad smell: "My nose is in great indignation."

When it's quiet out: "All's hushed as midnight yet."

When you're really annoyed with someone: "I do begin to have bloody thoughts."

When someone wants you to do something quickly: "Presently?  Ay, with a twink."

The Tempest by William Shakespeare

Hope it's a happy weekend! :)

Cinderella Coach Photo Op at Hollywood Studios

I really enjoyed the live action Cinderella movie that came out earlier this year, so I was excited to find a nod to it at Walt Disney World on our recent trip...

Cinderella's stunning golden coach is parked on the Streets of America!

REVIEW: Feel the Force Premium Package | Star Wars Weekends

When Star Wars Weekends rolls around at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there's a lot going on.  My family hadn't been to SWW in several years and wanted to take it all in, so we decided to splurge on the Feel the Force Premium Package.

This dining package costs $69 per adult and $39 per child.  Here's what you get:

  • reserved viewing area for the Legends of the Force: Star Wars Celebrity Motorcade.
  • unlimited mickey bars, soda bottles, and popcorn while waiting for motorcade.
  • reserved seating for one of the celebrity talk shows in Theater of the Stars.
  • reserved viewing area for the Symphony in the Stars fireworks (the same one used for motorcade viewing) with...
  • a pretty epic dessert party with Star Wars themed treats and alcoholic beverages included.

We're looking at the pros and cons of the premium package in today's review!

Star Wars Weekends | Darth's Mall Shopping

Star Wars Weekends 2015 is wrapping up at Disney's Hollywood Studios this weekend.  I need an x-wing to zip me back to Disney for one more hug from Jedi Mickey.  No?  Nobody has an x-wing I can borrow?

Well, instead I'll share some more photos from our Star Wars Weekends experience. :)

Today we're talking Star Wars merchandise and looking at the special shopping venue at SWW - Darth's Mall!

The Darth's Mall area is located at the end of Streets of America back by the Lights, Motors, Action theater this year.  I liked the theming outside the soundstages where they've set up the mall - there are giant Star Wars trading cards and a crashed snowspeeder along the walkway.

There are two separate spaces that make up Darth's Mall.  Watto's Grotto is the main shopping area with souvenirs, clothing (including the Her Universe collection), and Tusken Fridge Raiders (where you can pick up the three Star Wars cupcakes, drinks, and the Han Solo frozen in carbonite popcorn bucket).  The second space is called X-Wing Collectibles and has all the pricier, limited edition stuff.

Jawa Trading at Star Wars Weekends

Brush off your bargaining skills, everyone.  We've got a date with some Jawas at Star Wars Weekends, and they might just want to trade...

You'll find these mysterious creatures roaming the streets outside Darth's Mall.
Their schedule varies and they take turns with the storm troopers, so you may have to check back a few times to catch them.

Before we left for our Disney trip, we were sure to scavenge our basement for some junk to barter with the jawas - and we remembered to bring it with us into the park on our Star Wars Weekends day.  These are discerning Jawas, and they won't take just any junk.  They seemed to be refusing guests who offered them bits of paper or plastic park bags.  You want the kind of small trinkets you'd find at the dollar store: a sheet of stickers, a plastic toy coin, a tiny rubber frog keychain, an old happy meal toy...

Star Wars Weekends | Feel the Force Fireworks Dessert Party Review

Today we're going to be talking fireworks and sweet treats and STAR WARS...

I'm taking you all to a fabulous Star Wars Weekends dessert party!  There are a variety of special dining opportunities and packages on offer during Star Wars Weekends, and one of them is the Feel the Force Premium Package.  This gives you reserved viewing for the motorcade and one of the shows (for a full review of Feel the Force click here!) and the part I was most excited for...

...a Star Wars themed dessert party before the Symphony in the Sky fireworks!  Yes, those are mini jabba cupcakes.  Get excited, guys.

The dessert party area for the premium package is to the left of the stage when you're facing Grauman's Chinese Theatre - it's the same area they used earlier in the day for the motorcade viewing.  You'll probably have already picked up your badge, and you'll need to show it when you enter near Min and Bill's.

Let's check it out!

Star Wars Weekends at Disney World | Character Highlights

I am officially declaring it Star Wars Week on A Pinch of Pixie Dust!

We just got back from a Disney World trip (as you probably already know if you follow me on instagram or twitter or facebook!), and our Star Wars Weekends day at Disney's Hollywood Studios was one of my favorite things.  Make sure you check the blog and my youtube channel this week to catch all the jedi and imperial pixie dust.  :)

Star Wars Weekends is a special event at that runs select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in May and June at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  There are all sorts of intergalactic happenings in the park - fireworks, special shows and dining, celebrity meet and greets, and - what we're going to look at today - CHARACTERS galore!

Your Disney favorites are dressed up like characters from the movies, but you'll also find familiar faces from the Star Wars universe itself...

Storm troopers heckle you as you arrive at the park, Boba Fett is patrolling the stage (to keep an eye on Han Solo in carbonite), and you can also get in line to chat with different jedis, sith, and my favorite fashion role model, Queen Amidala.

One of the things that I loved about Star Wars Weekends was how visible all the characters were.  You might find Darth Vader just casually stalking down the Streets of America (as we did in the video!), and most of the meet and greets are outside, so even if you don't get in line, you can get a glimpse of Chewbacca and the ewoks or Darth Maul as you walk by.

The character lines at SWW can get crazy so you need to do your research if you want to do meet and greets.  The park map marks the locations and gives you a general idea of who's where, but be sure to check out Kenny the Pirate and make a plan beforehand.  Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett seemed to have some of the longest waits when we were there.

Morning is a great time to hit the character lines before they get insane and before the sun gets too punishing (some of the lines are in the shade, others not!) - we were at Hollywood Studios bright and early at 7:30 am to make rope drop.

Another reason to make park opening is because the storm trooper pre-show is so cool with the jokes and the music and effects!  As soon as they lowered the force field (I mean, teeny tiny rope), we headed to see a couple of mice...

Where else can you meet Jedi Mickey Mouse and Princess Leia Minnie Mouse??

Atrium Art onboard the Disney Dream

I'm whisking you away for a mini Disney cruise today...

We're going to explore the stunning atrium of the Disney Dream!  This is the space you first enter when you board the ship, and I loved noticing the art and details every time I passed through it.  On the last morning of the trip, I got up early to take some pictures.

Once you can tear yourself away from the explosion of color and sparkle that is the chandelier, you'll discover so many other interesting pieces of art...

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant Review

I'm taking you guys to the movies to day...

...and not just any movies - we're headed to the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

Disney World restaurants have some pretty great themes, but Sci-Fi is one of the most unique.  This is not your ordinary lunch or dinner spot...

You'll be dining in your snazzy retro convertible under the Hollywood hills at twilight!  Ready to eat?
