Disney Dream Breakfast Pastries at Vista Cafe

Today, my friends, I'm treating you to breakfast...

There will be coffee, of course, along with some pastries...

YUM!  And maybe we'll throw in a view of the sea...

We're taking our morning meal on board the Disney Dream cruise ship!

Early mornings on the cruise are the absolute best.  The public areas of the ship can feel quite crowded later in the day, but when you wake up first thing, you have the space all to yourself!  A stroll on deck to take in the sunrise is absolute heaven. :)

Our destination is the Vista Cafe, located on deck 4 (midship).  This is a lovely art deco coffee shop located just above the atrium - in the evening it serves alcohol.

SO SWANKY.  And you've got this as your view...

That incredible chandelier is your company as you munch your breakfast!

The Vista Cafe has a wonderfully-stocked pastry case in the mornings.  But when I first looked at it, I was a little wary.  Most of the food on a Disney Cruise is "free" (included with the cost of your cruise), but there are a lot of locations where you can purchase special drinks for an extra fee.

Vista Cafe is one of them, so I knew anything on the coffee menu would cost money.  But the pastries weren't listed on the menu.  The pastries at Vista Cafe do not cost anything extra!  SCORE!  This proved true for food at the other bars and coffee shops on the ship as well- the drinks you have to pay for out-of-pocket, but the snacks are often free.

Here's a Disney Snob Pro Tip: before you get to the Atrium, stop up at the Quacks drink station on deck 11 (drinks there are included in the cost of your cruise) to get your coffee or tea or morning beverage before you come to the Vista Cafe for your pastries.  You could also grab a mug from Cabanas and take it along.  Cabanas does have a whole breakfast buffet with hot foods, but it doesn't have the same pastries.  The Vista Cafe has...

...these pretty poppyseed muffins...

...decadent blueberry muffins...

...mini cinnamon rolls...

...bran loaf and danish.  The kiwi danish with the cream ended up being my favorite item - so tropical and tasty.

They even have brioche!

The brioche wasn't quite as fresh and fluffy as really good brioche ought to be, but it did have chocolate inside.  That's a win.

Now you could also take your pick of the main table service restaurants for your cruise breakfast - Royal Palace, Enchanted Garden, or Animator's Palate (the links will take you to decor photos and dinner reviews!).    But if you're just looking for a quick treat to start a new cruise day, I'd highly recommend the Vista Cafe!
