Paradise Pier & Mickey's Fun Wheel: Disneyland Trip Report IV

In our last installment of adventures at Disney's California Adventure park, we had just finished exploring A Bug's Land and were moving on to visit...

...Paradise Pier!  The theme park land, that is - not Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel across the street (where we were staying!).

We only had one day at DCA, so our schedule was pretty tightly packed.  It was so tempting to walk by different unfamiliar areas, though, like Pacific Wharf...

...love that "Record Catch" photo op!  As we were entering Paradise Pier, we also noticed the Little Mermaid ride - so strange to see it somewhere other than New Fantasyland!

All the carnival rides along the pier - my little brother Dart was excited to try Mickey's Fun Wheel.

Where in WDW: Luminescent Generator

Happy Windsday, everybody!

Put on your thinking caps and see if you can tell me where in Walt Disney World you can find a "luminescent generator."

Have you seen this when getting on or off of a ride?  Post your guess in the comments. :)

As many of you guessed, last week's Disney carpet trivia was from onboard one of the Disney Cruise ships - the Disney Dream!

Tower Club Level at Disney's Contemporary Resort

I have more pixie dust from Disney's Contemporary Resort to share today...

...and it's my favorite type of pixie dust: CLUB LEVEL pixie dust!

Club level or concierge level services are offered at the deluxe resort hotels at Walt Disney World.  As you may recall from previous club level overviews, concierge guests get access to a special lounge with cast members on hand to answer questions and make reservations - and complimentary food offerings throughout the day.

Disney's Contemporary Resort has two separate club levels.  The Atrium Club is located on the twelfth floor - the top floor overlooking the Grand Canyon Concourse.

The Tower Club is located on the fourteenth floor, away from the hustle and bustle and noise of the concourse.  It's just for guests staying the the suites on the fourteenth floor.

We never thought we would stay in the Tower Club because we never thought we'd stay in a suite - until our surprise upgrade this past summer!  I've already written about the gorgeous suite and the incredible view, so now it's time to look at the Tower Club itself and all its lovely offerings...

There will be desserts, guys.

What do you say?  Shall we head up to the fourteenth floor?

Valentine Links: 02.13.2015

Happy Happy Friday, friends!  Ready for a few fabulous links?

--Nothing says Friday the 13th like some cute "Villaintines" from the Disney Parks Blog!

--The Disney Food Blog has the scoop on the Valentine's Day cupcakes available at WDW this year.  That Raspberry Panna Cotta Cupcake from the Boardwalk Bakery looks amazing...

--My fav British vlogger Zoella has a bold red lip and a new makeup tutorial for Valentine's Day.  I don't know why, but I find makeup tutorials on YouTube hugely relaxing.  For five minutes I can just think about foundation and mascara and nothing else. ;)

--I can't get the song Sugar by Maroon 5 out of my head!  They've got a fun music video too where they surprise brides and grooms with special wedding performances.  Brief language warning here in the bridge...I really wish artists wouldn't swear in songs. :(

--Cycle Chic has me dreaming of Europe and cold, golden mornings in Copenhagen.  Love those red shoes in the first pic.

Disney Trivia: Starfish Carpet

Props to all my Disney snobs out there who recognized last week's Where in WDW photo!  That beautiful white Cadillac can be found right outside the entrance to the Grand Floridian, under the port cochere - it's such a fun photo op!

Are you ready for a new Disney trivia challenge?

Confession: I adore Disney carpets.  They always feature such beautiful designs!  Do you know where in the Disney universe at large to find this swirly starfish carpet?

An Aerial Tour of the Magic Kingdom

I've got a whole new perspective on the Magic Kingdom to share today...one from above.

Alas, it's not a helicopter ride over the park, but it's the next best thing!

A few weeks ago I posted about our surprise upgrade to a Tower Club suite at Disney's Contemporary Resort.  The suite had three incredible balconies and a stunning Magic Kingdom view.  My camera (a Canon Powershot SX510 HS) has a 30x zoom, and I had so much fun with it.  I could have sat staring out at the vista all day...

...listening to the cheerful launch whistles and following the wake of the boats as they crisscrossed the Seven Seas Lagoon...

...watching the swarm of buses coming and going, like a hive of busy bees...

...and of course admiring the monorails gliding by below!

Monorail spotting is my new favorite thing - they added so much magic to this view.  Here are two at the TTC - one arriving, one getting ready to leave!

But let's get back to the Magic Kingdom!  When watching a fresh sea of guests pouring out of the monorail station, I wasn't too sorry to be at the resort rather than in the park.  After all, I could see all the Magic Kingdom fun from my seat.

Disney Dream Breakfast Pastries at Vista Cafe

Today, my friends, I'm treating you to breakfast...

There will be coffee, of course, along with some pastries...

YUM!  And maybe we'll throw in a view of the sea...

We're taking our morning meal on board the Disney Dream cruise ship!

All the Light We Cannot See: Book Review

HAPPY SUNDAY!  I have a brand new bookish post and book review video - I just recently finished this title and couldn't wait to share it...

It's called All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.  Do you recognize that scene on the cover?  Think about it for a minute...

Do you remember the little chocolate mouse and the winding streets and the seagulls and that incredible SEA?

This book is set in St. Malo in France -  a city my brother and I visited a few years ago and just loved!  The photo of the Intra Muros on the cover pulled me in initially (c'mon - you know we all judge books by their covers sometimes... ), but I was just blown away by the wonderful writing, the compelling storylines, and the gorgeous descriptions.

All the Light We Cannot See is historical fiction and takes place during World War II.

The Intra Muros (the old fortified part of St. Malo) was bombed at the end of World War II.  It was all rebuilt and is a beautiful place to visit today, but it was fascinating to read more about the bombing and to imagine what it must have been like.

You visit Germany and Paris in this book as well as St. Malo.  There are two main characters - a French girl named Marie-Laure and a German boy named Werner - whose stories are beautifully interwoven through short, alternating chapters.

Marie-Laure is blind, so we see with her - just a vividly as sight could show us - through senses and sounds and discover all the light in the imagination and the mind.  Werner is concerned with a different kind of invisible light - electromagnetic waves travelling through the air all around us.  The radio becomes a fantastic theme.

Here's the video!  Have you read All the Light We Cannot See?  Share your thoughts in the comments. :)

Classy Cadillac: Where in WDW

This week's Walt Disney World trivia photo is all about travelling in style...

...in a classy white 1929 Cadillac!  This feels like a Gatsby car, don't you think?

Note how the rear view mirror is strapped onto the spare tire!  Old cars are awesome, and you'll find some neat models sprinkled throughout property.  Do you know where to find this one?  Post your answer in the comments!

Last Wednesday's challenge was a tricky one.  The next time you're in Disney's Hollywood Studios, drop in Adrian and Edith's Head to Toe shop and have a look above you - that's where you'll find that beautiful ceiling!

A Bug's Land: Disneyland Trip Report pt. III

Ready for some DISNEYLAND fun, guys?

Or, to be more precise, Disney's California Adventure fun!  I'm continuing my California trip report, and we're going to shrink to the size of a bug to explore a bug's land!

"Right this Way to Flik's Fun Fair!"  I see a little ant keeping look out! :)
