Festival of Fantasy: Swan Dancers and Beauty & the Beast

I am declaring today a FESTIVAL OF FANTASY FRIDAY.

Because you know I can't resist that alliteration. ;)

I have so many photos of the new Magic Kingdom parade I can't wait to share - but I don't want to just dump them all into one post.  So over the coming weeks, I'm going to be sharing one segment of the parade each Friday.  Let's start at the beginning...

I cannot express how much I LOVE the fact that Belle and the Beast open the parade.  It's perfection.

Sing it with me: "It's a festival of FAN-TA-SEEEEEE!"

You should probably have the soundtrack on in the background as you read this post. ;)

Belle and the Beast aren't the only two who start this celebration: there are also the prince and princess dancers!

When I first saw photos of these guys, I was on the fence.  The costumes seemed a little outlandish.  I mean, why swans?

...but seeing them in person, I thought they struck the perfect opening note.  They're so elegant and regal and cheerful in yellow and white, and the feathers give it a whimsical touch.  (Also, don't you love the snobby wave going on in that photo on the right?)

We watched the parade twice - once from Liberty Square and once from Town Square.  Both times I loved watching the swan!  The choreography was fabulous.

Seriously, the Disney designers get top points for twirliness.  I could not get over the frills and flounces!

While we're looking at the costumes, we HAVE to take a look at the mens' hats.  They're almost ridiculous, but they totally work.  I want to see them on sale at Le Chapeau.

The giant swan on the front also verges on over-the-top, but in person I liked it.  I loved the capes and gloves as well, although it must be sweltering for the performers!

The moment when the parade arrived at Liberty Square was absolutely magical.  First the dancers glided in, then towering behind them were Beauty and the Beast, framed by a wealth of roses!  I love the roses, and I'm not sure how the peacocks tie in, but I don't mind them.  I should note that bull at the top of the photo is not a part of the float - it's part of the Adventureland architecture photobombing. ;)

I love how Belle is like, "Welcome to MY parade - we'll see an homage to all the best classic works of literature from the Beast's library."  OK, I'm just kidding, but that's a parade I'd like to see too. Actually, I really want a Beast's Library float now...

It's a Tale as Old as Time! :)  I was really impressed with the characters in the parade - their movements and dancing and waves are also done very big and almost seem exaggerated at first, but they pull you into the excitement and the fun.

This whole parade went for big and large and ultra colorful, and I think in the end they really pulled it off.

Belle has that princess wave down.  I also loved that some of the choreography was straight out of the movie - like the curtsy and bow at the bottom of the staircase!

Hope it's a Happy Friday! :)
