Main Street Bakery Starbucks Opening Day: Review

Today's post is going to be full of photos, details, treats, and cupcakes from the brand new Main Street Bakery Starbucks at the Magic Kingdom!!

I had read rumors online that the opening would be in spring 2013, so my fingers were crossed that we'd be able to see it during our June trip.  On our first MK day it was still closed with the windows blacked out:

A few days later, I noticed a line outside the bakery.  It was still in voucher-only soft opening (apparently they had handed out vouchers to random guests that morning, so that's who was in line), but it would open to the general public the next day!

I'll give you one guess where I was on June 18th at 9AM:

Heading back down Main Street towards the new bakery of course!

From my instagram!  The cast member costumes, as you can see, are the same.  But the décor and set up is quite different!  As soon as you enter, you have two separate but identical lines to choose from.

Above is the line on the left hand side of the bakery.  It was quite crowded!  There were plenty of guests; and there were also cast members milling around the lines, answering questions, and what seemed like an unnecessary number of managers lurking at the back, chatting with each other, and staring at their phones.  Not exactly Disney look.

This is the identical line to the right!  It's hard to get a sense of the set-up in photos, but I did a video tour/vlog of it as well!  In all the bustle, it took me a second to realize that the seating is all gone.  Not a single chair left to be seen!  But we'll get back to that...

"Take a Deliciously Indulgent Ride" reads the menu board.  The drinks were exactly the same as what you would find at any other Starbucks.

I have to say, I thought it was pretty boring that they didn't bother to add any Disney pixie dust to the menu.  Couldn't they have given us a "Tinkerbell's Green Tea" or "Cinderella's Caramel Macchiato" or something special?  The cups at least have some balloons and Disney logo on one side and the regular Starbucks logo on the other.

As you wind through the line you'll find some Starbucks merchandise for purchase, the same as what you'd find at a grocery store or another Starbucks.  (I can't really imagine people wanting to lug a bag of coffee beans all around the park though...)  ANYway, as you reach the head of the line you'll find all the cold drinks and sandwiches.

Another shot of the drinks case, and just beyond that is the bakery case!  Just to prepare you: it's mostly Starbucks treats...

More Pixie Dust on Facebook!

Hey guys!  I've got some fun news about the blog: you can now find A Pinch of Pixie Dust on facebook

I've been debating whether or not to start a facebook page for the blog for awhile....but I figure it'll be a good way to keep all the different things I've got going on on twitter, youtube, instagram, etc. together in one place.

So my username on facebook is "PinchofPixieDust."  It's the blog title without the "A."  Sadly "APinchofPixieDust" was already taken.  So was "bookishprincess," which is my username on twitter, youtube, instagram, and vine.  I thought about doing "thedisneysnob" (my username on pinterest), but I decided not to make things more confusing than they already are.  LOL.

Be sure to come over and give the new page a like I'm going to try not to just regurgitate stuff from the blog but add in a few different photos and things as well.

Hope it's a Happy Windsday!

Where in WDW: A Peaceful Path

When you're at Disney, you do a lot of walking through a lot of places.  And if you're rushing to a ride or a meal, you don't even notice the scenery around you!

So today's #WhereinWDW trivia is dedicated to one of those walk-through spaces:

When during your trip might you find yourself walking down this path through a secluded swamp?  There's Spanish moss hanging from the tall trees above you, and it's so peaceful.

If you've sped through this space to catch a certain kind of Disney transportation, post in the comments!

Last week's monorail sign is, as you probably guessed, at the Contemporary Resort.  You'll see it when you're up on the monorail platform, in the winding queue!

Rapunzel Restrooms and So Much More...

You guys know how I feel about the little details at Walt Disney World.  I'm kinda crazy about them.  Especially at the Magic Kingdom.

So when I heard about the new Tangled Bathroom area in Fantasyland and saw pics of so many colorful, beautiful touches - I was pretty much bouncing-off-the-walls-SUPER-excited-couldn't-WAIT to see it for myself!

Yes, I designed a little intro graphic for it.  I don't know why.

lol, I guess I felt this new area of the MK was so cool, it deserved a little mini poster.  It makes me think of the attraction posters under the Train Station when you enter the park:

"Come See THE HAUNTED MANSION!"

"Visit the ENCHANTED TIKI ROOMS!!"

"Discover the wonders of the RAPUNZEL BATHROOMS!!!"

...

Wait, what??

lol, but seriously.  These are epic restrooms.  And actually, the new area has SO much more than just the bathrooms.

SO.  Shall we approach?  If you're heading down the Peter Pan/Small World tunnel from Fantasyland to Liberty Square, you basically can't miss this new area.  That adorable tower is practically calling to you, willing your feet to point towards it and have a wander!

There used to be stroller parking in this area, and there still IS a great big sea of strollers to your right as you enter.

The sign for the strollers is so cute and also PURPLE.  I can tell Rapunzel's been here!

Over top of the buggies you'll get your first glimpse of some of the charming village architecture.  Look at those sweet hanging baskets!

As you continue on, you reach the town square...

Probably the music from the movie will be playing, and you will feel like jigging.  AHHH.  It's so pretty though!  It's just like in the movie.  Let's have a comparison pic:

OK, maybe not exactly and precisely the same, but good enough for me!  That town scene is my favorite part of the movie.  I love how so much happens and so much is "said" between Rapunzel and Flynn (excuse me, Eugene), yet they don't speak a single word!

How cool would it be it they had some sort of special event and got a sidewalk artist (preferably one who was "friends" with Rapunzel) to come in and cover the ground in drawings just like in the movie??

Seriously.  I want to see that happen.  And just for the heck of it, here's a picture of Rapunzel and Eugene eating cupcakes:

WHY ARE THERE NOT TANGLED CUPCAKES FOR SALE IN THE PARK??

OK.  Sorry.  Focus.  Back to the real-life incarnation of Tangled!

So the restrooms are located inside of the town buildings.  I like how the women's restroom is in the big, gorgeous, painted tower and the men's is just....a door. lol.

Although the guys do get a palace suit of armor with a frying pan...randomly attached.  I was curious if the men's was painted as beautifully as the ladies' (you'll see that in a minute!) so I asked one of my brothers to bring back a report.  He said there were frying pans and wanted posters.

From the sound of that, the girls definitely got the better décor.  Rapunzel totally decked the place out.  I mean, just check out the girl on the sign.

Look at her looooong golden hair - love it!

The painting starts outside and then continues inside.  I tried not to take too many pictures because...you know...it is still a bathroom.  But of course I had to snap a few!

This is the ceiling.  That's safe enough, right?

I SO want to paint the walls of my room like this now.  How epic would that be???

Then there's this sort-of hidden hallway full of mirrors at the very back of the restrooms, the opposite end from the sinks .  Look at what's up on that shelf...

It's all of Rapunzel's arts and crafts - how she passes the time at the beginning of the movie: the chess board, the candles, the books, the guitar, the paint brushes!  The many, many nods to the movie were what really put this area over the top.

...like a bag of apples that Max must have left behind...and do I spy a certain significant satchel up there???

There are what look like, on first glace, wanted posters hung everywhere...but this one is actually a flyer for an event happening in the Daffodil Gallery at the Lavender Tea Room.  Tea and Finger Sandwiches will be served.

The only problem I have with this is that now I want to be able to GO to the Daffodil Gallery at the Lavender Tea Room and sample said tea and finger sandwiches.

C'mon Disney.  You should know better than to joke around about an imaginary tea room and then not make it real.  Not cool.

And OF COURSE I loved all the lovely lanterns and banners.  My very favorite detail though, were these little hidden chameleons tucked away for you to find...

Can you spot Pascal grinning somewhere in this pic?  In fact there were many more hidden chameleons than just that one - we spent about 20 minutes hunting, and I don't even think we spotted them all - but I may save those for an update all of their own.

But I just LOVED that they incorporated that little game into the Tangled area.  It was the sort of tiny little extra magical zip that I felt Belle's Village in New Fantasyland was lacking.

LOL - I think with all these exciting little details I haven't even mentioned the tower itself yet!  It is rising up above a little waterfall and is so pretty.  I was a little distracted when I walked towards it, though, because I discovered a different surprise.

The Tangled area actually CONNECTS THROUGH to the Haunted Mansion area.  Mind. Blown.

I just wasn't expecting that - it was brilliant planning to introduce another walkway though!  And you can still take the little pathway between Columbia Harbor House and the candle shop if you prefer it.

Overall, I'd say the new Tangled area is just fabulous.  There is plenty of pixie dust to discover!

But I want to hear your thoughts - have you guys visited the new bathrooms?  What are your thoughts??  Be sure to share in the comments! :)

Disney Dessert Video Tours

HELLO FRIENDS!

So we just arrived back from Disney World last night.  It was such a fun time, and I spotted so many new Disney treats that I cannot wait to start writing about.  The photos are still uploading, but I figured I could share some videos/vlogs for today's Sweet Treat Monday post!!

First off, there's the NEW MAIN STREET BAKERY STARBUCKS.  It opened half-way during our trip, so we got to check it out on opening day, which was SUPER exciting:

Speaking of newly reopened Disney bakeries, we also made sure to stop by the Boardwalk Bakery.  Some of the vlogs I had to do in a rush, so they're quite short, just a minute or two, but there will be lots more photos and details to come!

The Boulangerie in the France pavilion at Epcot was also new-to-me and had SUCH beautiful looking treats!  Almost as good as the real France...

That amazing Disney cupcake spot, Starring Rolls at Hollywood Studios, hadn't changed much; but they DID have a new edition to their star-studded dessert lineup, a Strawberry Cream Cupcake!

And finally, the Mara Food Court at the Animal Kingdom Lodge finally has some gourmet cupcakes of its own: an orange marmalade and a chocolate butterfinger.  So beautiful and so delish!

I hope it's a MAGICAL MONDAY!

Come Join the Party...a CASTLE Party!

Whenever I walk up to the Magic Kingdom gates, put my ticket in, and skip through those turnstiles, I feel like I'm heading to a party.

I think this is partly due to the fact, that, as I'm walking down Main Street, I often find there really is a party going on up at the castle - the Dream Along with Mickey Show somehow magically seems to be running whenever you enter the park!  It really adds to the atmosphere, even when you're just walking by.  But it's certainly worth stopping to watch too!

I LOVE the music for this show.  It's a little cheesy, but whenever you hear it, you know you're at Disney!

"Join the party - a CASTLE party! You're all invited, so come and join the FUN!"

Another thing I love is the part at the very beginning where Mickey asks for everyone to shout out their dreams.  When I was watching with my little brother, he called out he wanted to be a ninja!  So cute.

The best place to watch is front and center, but if you're walking along the side paths into Fantasyland or Frontierland, you can get a glimpse of the characters before they step on stage, which is also pretty fun.  You can even  sometimes hear the show from across the Seven Seas Lagoon - it's EVERYWHERE!

A castle show isn't a castle without some princesses!  It's Cinderella's castle after all!

Cindy and Aurora look very elegant in this pic, and just check out the way Snow's Prince's cape is flying!

This pic was already blurry, so I photoshopped it up to be artistically blurry - lol!  But look at how swirly those skirts are!!

I kinda miss the old Cinderellabration castle show...now that was a Princessapalooza!!  But this princess scene is pretty adorable as well.  I love when Mickey asks Minnie to dance...

The characters in the show are so good.  They have so much energy and pizazz, and the way they move - it looks like they've walked straight out of the cartoons!

And the way Donald and Goofy pull out some pirate dress-up costumes?  Love it.

You can take him, Peter!

Haha...why do I have a feeling Peter's fingers are crossed behind his back when he's taking that pirate oath?

Even the dancers do a great job, and I love how perfectly their outfits match the castle behind them!  If you're walking along Main Street during the show, you may see regular cast members quietly dancing along...if I worked on Main Street, I would totally memorize every dance move too!

The Fab Four!  I'm lucky the shutter didn't go a second later for this pic...it looks like Mickey's about to blink!  That's the one bad thing about characters who move and talk...normally you don't need to worry about Mickey or Minnie blinking in a photo.

Just look at the PIXIE DUST!  I love the fireworks that go off at the end.

How can you not be in a perfect Disney mood after watching the castle show?

"Take the dream with you, wherever you go...and find the dream inside of you!"
